Library Regulations of the Academy of Social and Medical Sciences in Lublin – Academy of Applied Sciences
I. General Principles
-
The Library collections may be used by WSNS students, participants of WSNS postgraduate studies, and WSNS employees (collaborators).
-
Persons other than those mentioned in point 1 may use the Library collections if this results from agreements concluded by the Higher School of Social Sciences in Lublin.
-
Use of the collections is free of charge.
-
Upon registering at the Library, the applicant should present a valid student ID, and postgraduate students and employees (collaborators) should present an ID card.
-
Silence and the prohibition of using mobile phones are mandatory in the Library.
II. Borrowing
-
Readers may borrow items marked with a "signature," i.e., the location of the book in the storage.
-
Items marked with the location "Reading Room" and all periodicals may only be used in the Reading Room.
-
Books can only be borrowed personally upon presenting a student ID or ID card.
-
WSNS employees and final-year students may borrow up to 10 volumes at a time for a period of 1 month.
-
Other students and participants of postgraduate studies may borrow up to 5 volumes at a time for a period of 1 month.
-
Borrowings can be renewed for the next month if the book has not been reserved by another reader.
-
For particularly valuable and sought-after books, the Library may require the return of borrowed materials before the end of the regular borrowing period.
-
Orders (reservations) are placed electronically after logging into the MOLNET+ catalog according to the provided instructions. Login is individual and independent, after registering at the Library by providing personal data and e-mail to the library database.
-
Orders are fulfilled in the order of receipt.
-
Reserved books must be collected within 10 days from the date of placing the order. After this period, the reservation expires, and the books are returned to the storage or lent to other readers.
-
Items unavailable at the time of ordering can be reserved. In the online catalog, use the "Join the queue" button. When the first available copy appears, the system automatically creates a reservation for the first person in the queue.
-
The following cannot be borrowed:
-
Items in the Reading Room reference collection
-
Newspapers and periodicals
- Publications in poor technical condition
-
- The right to use the borrowings expires: in the event of termination of the contract with a WSNS employee, completion or interruption of studies by a WSNS student; in the event of termination of a civil law contract between a cooperating person and WSNS; due to repeated violation of the Library Regulations.
- WSNS students may also borrow books from the Provincial Pedagogical Library named after the Commission of National Education in Lublin and the Provincial Public Library named after H. Łopaciński and use the databases available in these libraries. Use of Higher Education Libraries resources is possible only on site.
III. Protection of Collections
-
The reader is materially responsible for borrowed books.
-
For lost or damaged items, the reader must provide one copy of the same or newer edition, or a book indicated by a Library employee. For a lost or damaged volume of a multi-volume work, the reader returns the entire work. Remaining volumes remain the property of the Library.
IV. Overdue Books
- A reader who has not returned books within the designated period will be deprived of the right to borrow for a period of 2 months (the summer break period is not included in the penalty), and their library account will be automatically blocked. During this time, the reader may still use the library collection on-site (in the Reading Room).
V. Interlibrary Loans
-
The right to use interlibrary loans is granted to WSNS employees, students, and postgraduate students of WSNS.
-
The WSNS Library conducts interlibrary loans with libraries in the national library network based on an appropriate letter or requisition slip.
-
A condition for accepting an order for interlibrary loan is the unavailability of the requested title in libraries in the city of Lublin.
-
Users place orders for publications at the Library by carefully and accurately filling out a requisition slip.
-
Materials obtained through interlibrary loans are made available exclusively in the Reading Room for a period corresponding to the return date set by the lending library.
-
The reader is responsible for the cost of the loan (shipping cost, cost of photocopies).
-
The WSNS Library lends its own collection to other libraries for a period of 1 month.
-
Interlibrary loans do not include: special collections (audiovisual), titles of which the Library holds only one copy, serial publications, and reference collections.
-
Interlibrary loans are carried out exclusively by mail.
- The borrowing library is responsible for properly securing the materials and is liable for any damage or loss.
VI. Photocopying
-
Orders for photocopying services are accepted by a Library staff member.
-
Photocopies are made at the Copy Point, which operates daily. The current price list is posted on-site for public information.
-
Photocopies may be made from publications in the Library’s collection, except for:
- copies in poor technical condition (damaged or worn)
-
rare prints,
-
bound journals whose spines may be damaged during copying,
- ooks containing explicit restrictions prohibiting copying of all or part of the content.
- Photocopying may be performed only if it does not violate the provisions of the Act of 4 February 1994 on copyright and related rights (Journal of Laws 2006, No. 90, item 631, as amended).
